How boring would life be if everything was permanent. What ever you experienced today you’d experience again tomorrow. The beauty of a sunrise would turn into the same thing as it was yesterday and the day before that. You’d hold off getting in touch with that old friend you’ve been meaning to get in touch with because you know they will be there tomorrow.
Think of the world 10 15, or 20 years ago or anytime during your life time. How has the world changed? What new technology has been invented and which ones have gone away? How has politics changed? What new discoveries have there been made in the world of science? How has your life changed? I am willing to bet that there has been many changes in your life, some were happy and some taught you a valuable lesson. Due to impermanence many chances have been made, some for the better and some for the worse depending on your point of view. If the world remained the same and everything stayed status quo many advancements would not have been made. Many new laws wouldn’t have taken effect and If inventories decided 50 years ago that there are no more advancements to be made I would not be typing this out on my laptop and I wouldn’t be able to pick up the phone and watch movies, information and be entertained instantly. For me I don’t know how I lived without my calendar on my phone and being able to set up appointments and reminders.
Do you still have the same beliefs you had 10 years ago? Things that you thought were true back then do you still believe now? Are your goals and dreams the same or are you on a different path? Within 10 years your body’s cells have replaced them selves numerous times, so physically you are not the same person. If you stayed the same over most of your life time and maintained the same beliefs and only know what you knew then, then you haven’t grown very much. The world has moved on and changed and people. places and things have changed with it.
Change is going to happen and that is just the way things are. Change is good, for the most part. Advancements are made and the old and out dated are removed so we can move forward and advance as a society. Embrace change and see it as an opportunity to grow and learn more about yourself and the world around you.
